RRU STATEMENT OF FAITH

6. *

We believe in one God, the Father almighty, maker of heaven and earth, of all things visible and invisible. And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the only Son of God, begotten from the Father before all ages, God from God, Light from Light, true God from true God, begotten, not made; of the same essence as the Father. Through him all things were made. For us and for our salvation he came down from heaven; he became incarnate by the Holy Spirit and the virgin Mary, and was made human. He was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate then suffered and was buried. The third day he rose again, according to the Scriptures. He ascended to heaven and is seated at the right hand of the Father. He will come again with glory to judge the living and the dead. His kingdom will never end.

And we believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life. He proceeds from the Father and the Son, and with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified. He spoke through the prophets.

We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic church.

We look forward to the resurrection of the dead, and to life in the world to come.

Amen

COACHES CODE OF CONDUCT

As a coach for Rock River United, your conduct should reflect a focus on integrity, adherence to Biblical values, professional boundaries, and respect for everyone as made in the image of Christ.

  1. Complete mandatory coaching application, background check, and concussion training prior to the first practice starting for your sport.
  2. Uphold integrity and honor Jesus Christ in all relationships with athletes, parents, opposing teams, and officials.
  3. Encourage the athletes on your team to strengthen their walk with Christ and relationships with one another by conducting devotions before practice and prayer at the end of practice. Every practice must have 10-15 minutes of spiritual encouragement. Coaches should feel free to invite Christian mentors, pastors, leaders to conduct their devotions.
  4. Maintain appropriate emotional and physical boundaries with student athletes by committing to communicate with athletes with at least one other person (preferably adult) present and by adding their parents to any digital communications. Don’t add athletes on social media platforms if you are not already friends with them on social media. Any physical contact with an athlete must be limited to practices and games and only what is necessary for safety, instruction, and legitimate sports care. Any touch should be brief, public, and clearly explained.
  5. Demonstrate and encourage exceptional sportsmanship amongst teammates and with opposing teammates, fans, coaches, and officials. Train your athletes to respond with humility, kindness, and forgiveness in competitive situations (eg. helping others when they are hurt, encouraging those who struggle, etc.) Ephesians 4:31-32 “Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor be put away from you, along with all malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.”
  6. Encourage athletes to give 100% of their effort in practices as well as games. Don’t allow them to sit out for conditioning or use cell phones during practice times. (The only exception would be in an emergency, and they need to check with you first.) Colossians 3:17, 23 “And whatever you do, whether in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him.  Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.”
  7. Don’t show favoritism or bias towards particular players based on personal relationships or parent pressure. Positions and playing time must be awarded based on merit: skill, coachability, and character.
  8. Understand the athlete Code of Conduct/dress code, and make the athletic director aware of any violations right away.
  9. Do not invite anyone to practice with the team who are not RRU athletes or approved coaching staff or board members (adult helpers must have background checks and be approved by the RRU board).

This code is designed to foster trust, honor God, and ensure a safe, constructive, and respectful coaching environment that aligns professional excellence with spiritual stewardship.
